This morning 32 of my Chickadee Bird Club kids went birding at the Fort Randall Dam. It was a beautiful morning and we had such a nice time! First, we birded the trails in two groups. I led one group and the other was led by my friend/birder Chris Anderson from Sioux Falls. Some highlights were: good looks at a Spotted Towhee, Western Kingbird, Bald Eagles, American White Pelicans, Double-crested Cormorants, Cedar Waxwings, Harris's Sparrows and more. We heard lots of different bird songs too. We had a picnic and then the kids played at the playground. Everyone did amazing!!!

This week, students came across the word "strop." Our amazing Mrs. Cartney brought "life to a word" by telling them she has her great-grandfather’s strop, which she brought to school today to show students and explain what it was used for.
